My Story

My name is Emily and I'm an artist living in the UK. I grew up in a hamlet in Somerset in the South West of England. I lived in a haunted house which just happened to be very close to an old Barrow which is known as The Fairy Toot (I’m sure these local fairies were one of the reasons for all the strange happenings in our home).

Early Scribbles

My love of illustrated fairytales and folklore has followed me since childhood and also my love for fantasy movies. Labyrinth made a huge impact on me, but so did Jason And The Argonauts, The Golden Voyage of Sinbad, Legend… you get the idea. The ones with lots of creatures!

Stormy The Zorse

In the past 20+ years I have worked with horses, made pet portraits, worked as a receptionist in London, put on exhibitions of my oil paintings, performed and taught bellydance and finally found my way into illustration in 2005 and digital art. Half of my working life so far has involved working for mostly small self publishers and games which has been a fantastic learning experience.

In 2015 I started my journey back to using traditional media again which inspired me to start up my Patreon page and this has led me to this point where I am now a completely independent artist and working full time on my own projects (with the odd tasty client job here and there!) It really is a dream come true. The year of 2017 was a life changer for me with my Kickstarter project for my book Strangehollow which went so well and made me realise that I could continue to grow my own business by using my online shop, Patreon and Kickstarter in tandem.

I am now entering uncharted and exciting territory and I hope that you will enjoy the adventure!
